Wednesday track recap

Tim : 05/10/2012 : Multisport, Running

Hello,

Last night’s workout went well – there was some drizzle near the end, but it felt good. There was a track meet at Horseheads, so we ran in the bowl. We started by the pavilion and ran to the 0.25 mile mark, then did about 0.15 miles for recovery and ran the same segment in reverse. Morgan, Bill (Thibault) and Steve joined the fun.

This workout was a good rust-buster, and given that many of us are targeting the 3.5 mile JP Morgan Corporate Challenge race(s) towards the end of the month, next week will be pace/VO2max intervals, which means 5x1000m for group A and 6x800m for group B, at close to your target 5k race pace. The Horseheads track should be available, as far as I can tell.

Track work out tonight is at the Bowl

Tim : 05/09/2012 : General, Multisport, Running

There’s a track meet tonight (Horseheads vs Corning), so we’ll workout at the bowl.  It’s on Thorne Street, just east of the football field/track area.  From Corning, take the Rt. 14 exit from I-86 but go straight through the intersection where you would turn left to go to Watkins Glen.  Take the next left, heading towards the cemetery, and the Bowl will be in the right.  There’s plenty of parking by the main pavilion.

The workout will be 8×0.3 miles (path is marked off in 0.1 mile increments) with 0.2 mile recovery jog.

Wednesday Track Workouts are Back!

Tim : 04/17/2012 : General, Multisport, Running, Training

After some debate on location and day of week, we’ve decided to stick to the Horseheads track for the Wednesday track workouts. We typically meet at 5:45 for warm-up and stretches (for those of us who adhere to that controversial practice), and then start the workout at 6. We’re usually done by 7:15, which leaves plenty of time for a beverage or two at the Hanover Grill.

Workouts will alternate between moderate distance (800-1200m) and shorter distances (200-600m). Pace will determined by your training goals and fitness. We usually have 2-3 different groups, so everyone is welcome regardless of ability. See you there!
